Casinos and other entertainment venues were hard-hit by COVID and are looking forward to a swift recovery now that things are getting back on track.
Parx casino has recently announced that its previous plans to launch a mini satellite casino in Shippensburg Township, Pennsylvania, is making progress, although some changes were necessary. In the world of the online casino USA company Parx has been at the forefront of developing brick-and-mortar and online gambling in the Keystone State.
Here is what you need to know about Parx’s proposed mini-casino:
New proposed location
Parx’s initial satellite casino plans were literally sunk after sinkholes appeared near its original location near Exit 29 of the I-81. The new proposed site is in the South Central Pennsylvania borough, close to Pennsylvania’s Route 11 and the I-81. 250 South Conestoga Road was once a Lowe’s home improvement store, and Shippensburg officials have recently signed off on allowing a building conversion to commence.
As the new site has an existing building, getting a mini-casino up and running is expected to take less time, coming as a relief to Parx officials hoping to fulfill their customer service strategy of delivering on stipulated timeframes. Parx’s original location would have required breaking ground and building from scratch, which would take longer and cost significantly more.
When to expect a grand opening
The notion of a Parx satellite casino in Shippensburg was first floated in 2018. With the expectation of having to build the facility, company officials targeted a 2020 launch. Several things have changed since then. The unfortunate events that prevented the use of its initial location were first, followed in short order by COVID-19. However, industry experts are confident that the new mini-casino will open within a year.
What to expect
Parx plans to refit and renovate the 140,000 square feet store, which sits on 21 acres of prime real estate, a short drive away from a Pennsylvania State University and within convenient proximity from several hotels and motels. This will soon add it to any list of things to do in Pennsylvania.
When it opens, this satellite casino is expected to house 600 slow machines and a restaurant and sports bar with a capacity for 250 patrons. Casino hours will be from 9 am to midnight on Mondays to Thursdays, with 24-hour operations over weekends starting at 9 am on Fridays until midnight on Sundays.
